In 2017, we sponsored several events in the Brno region – both related to our scope of business and not.
International Geodetic Pentathlon 2017 (STCS Brno)
As the first in 2017, we provided support for students of the Secondary Technical School of Construction in Brno so that they could go to Lučenec, Slovakia, and take part in the 12th geodetic pentathlon, which took place from 21 to 22 April this year. Geodetic pentathlon is a sports and knowledge competition organized by Oskar Winkler's Secondary Technical School of Construction in Lučenec in cooperation with STAV-GEO Lučenec, civic association. Its aim and mission are to establish international contacts between students of geodetic and geoinformation schools from different countries, to compare their theoretical knowledge and practical skills and to create a space for the exchange of experience.
The competition consisted in the completion of a route which was several kilometres long and had checkpoints where individual competition disciplines were performed. These were typical geodesist activities and a knowledge test in the field of geodesy, cartography, photogrammetry and GIS.
This competition is unique in the region of Central Europe and this year's event was attended by 29 teams from 16 schools from the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary.

Geoparty 2017 (FAST VUT in Brno)
The Geoparty, organized by students of the 1st year of the follow-up master's degree in Geodesy and Cartography at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Brno University of Technology, is one of the events that we sponsor regularly. This traditional event took place on 29 November and was its 40th edition. This socio-entertainment event is attended by about 300 students of Geodesy and Cartography, representatives of teachers and graduates of the Brno Faculty of Civil Engineering every year. The official program of Geoparty includes dubbing the first-year students to become members of the “Surveying Guild”.

Traditional New Year's Eve running up the stairs in Bílovice nad Svitavou
Lastly, we sponsored the traditional event, New Year's Eve running up the stairs, which this year was for the first time organized by ROB SK Radiosport Bílovice nad Svitavou together with the municipality of Bílovice nad Svitavou. This year, the traditional event was held for the 28th time, celebrating both the end of the old year and the beginning of the new one. Also this year, there were several categories for women, men and children and the starting point was under the stairs at the railway station. A total of 157 competitors took part in the race and Michal Suchánek was winner, with a time of 23.17 s.
